Significant Otters

Charity Proceeds - June 2024:

Each year, all June proceeds from purchases/tips of Significant Otters will be donated to charity! This year, proceeds will go to The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people. The Trevor Project offers a suite of 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention programs as well as the world's largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, plus resources for youth-serving adults and organizations, an advocacy department fighting for pro-LGBTQ legislation and against anti-LGBTQ rhetoric/policy positions, and a research team to discover the most effective means to help young LGBTQ people in crisis and end suicide.

Significant Otters:

You are an otter seeking true love and partnership. Once you've spotted that special other otter, how do things play out? Choose a collection of qualities and activities from the rolling table, as instructed, and roll the dice. If you score well, love blossoms between you. If not, there are always plenty more fish in the sea (to share with other otters of course)!

Designed to fit on a business card, the simple table lets you enjoy this dice-rolling activity on the go. If you wish to take it further, use the table as a journaling prompt to describe the adorable interactions between otters.

Want to take it a step even further into the realm of sword & sorcery or sci-fi adventures? Convert the actions of two otters, and consider the equivalent of an anthropomorphic otter-folk species.  Perhaps this is the romantic tale of your character's parents... or perhaps its the tragic beginning of the tale how you lost your true love... or maybe its that side quest for shippers looking for a cute otter-folk NPC.

 The sky's the limit with your imagination.

How to Play:

You will need a standard set of multi-sided dice (or digital equivalent) to play. Choose categories and answers until you have picked exactly one from every column and one from every row. Roll each appropriate die and note the score. If the total is 21 or greater, you have found true love.

If you score 20 or below, you didn't live happily otter after. Just try again!

Consider journaling the tale of a successful love match, using the table for prompts.

Disclaimer:

This game is meant for silly fun, and it is not an actual representation of otter mating habits. Though some of these concepts are borrowed from real otter behaviors, they are an amalgam of many different species in different environments with very different habits.
